Rapper, artist, and innovator M.I.A. recently dropped a new self-titled book highlighting her earlier life starting with her time spent in art school at Central Saint Martins London through to her hugely successful three albums, mixtapes, and live performances across the globe. M.I.A. tells this story with the use of collages, photos, and prints….
In celebration of art, M.I.A. covers the November 2012 Art Issue of Paper Magazine. Photographed by Jessica Craig Martin, the proclaimed 'Bad Girl' rocks tops by Acne and Crème de Silk, a headpiece by Tom Manaton and ring by Delfina Delettrez. Her pants are custom made (she made them!) and the shoes she’s flaunting are by Kenzo. Backdrop images are from the book, M.I.A.
In the interview, M.I.A opens up about success on her terms, flipping America the bird during last year’s Superbowl half-time show and her latest endeavor: her recently released coffee table book M.I.A. The book is a gorgeous collection of the artwork she’s made to accompany each of her albums.
If you missed the news, M.I.A. is also doing an art exhibit in India and will soon release her highly anticipated album, Matangi.
