You probably know him more by the name his gov’t name Donald Glover.  Glover original roots comes from acting on hit NBC shows 30 Rock & Community and his comedy group Derrick Comedy but the highly talented individual took a dive into music rapping under the name of Childish Gambino.  The rapper released his first mixtape Sick Boi in 2008 and continued to release mixtapes and albums after receiving ample praise. Gambino’s music was popular in the underground scenes…

…until his song ‘Freaks and Geeks’ (featured on the EP album) became a huge hit.  I was first introduce to this side of Glover through ‘Freaks and Geeks’ and took some time backtracking before I lisetened to his recent EPCamp(2011).  Camp birthed hits ’Heartbeat’ and ‘Bonfire’ before this new release of his mixtape R O Y A L T Y.

I’m loving this mixtape right now!  R O Y A L T Y host 14 tracks with guest features from Tina Fey (?!), Beck, Gonage, Danny Brown, RZA, Ghostface Killah, Bun B, Schoolboy Q,and more. 

This is the first time for me to listen to a body of work created by King Mez but I can say I’m thoroughly enjoying this album.  Production and features include J. Cole, Carlitta Durand, Omen, Soundtrakk, Prolyfic,Drey Skonie and more.  I dare you to download this album!
